Are we ready for Marriage? <\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

There are many aspects of marriage preparation which will be covered in the prepare course, however, with the prevalence of Domestic and Family Abuse there are somethings you need to know to make sure you are safe now and into the future. It is God's will for us to flourish in our all relationships including our intimate relationships. Marriage is a beautiful commitment to love and care for one another mutually and with equality. The Duluth Equality Wheel is an example of what is required for a relationship to be free of domestic abuse and it can be found here<\/a><\/p>\n

Always know that the covenant of marriage is broken by the person using abuse. It is never your fault and it is NOT a sin to divorce when someone has broken the covenant. It is okay to escape an unsafe relationship.<\/p>\n

If you have concerns about your relationship you can talk to Reverend Melanie or there are 24\/7 counsellors available at 1800 Respect on 1800 737 732.<\/p>\n

Do I need to be an Anglican to be married in the Anglican Church?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

No, but at least one person must be baptised. You will be married according to the\u00a0Rites and Ceremonies of the Anglican Church<\/em> and the officiant will be the Rector.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

What happens when we meet with the Priest?<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Together you will:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Fill in the\u00a0Notice of Intended Marriage<\/em><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0form (which must be completed at least 30<\/strong> days prior to your wedding),<\/li>\n
  2. Discuss the order of service,<\/li>\n
  3. Discuss your family and friends\u2019 participation,\u00a0and<\/li>\n
  4. Discuss any other practical arrangements such as the Wedding Rehearsal, photographers, and so on.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

    What else is involved in the Marriage preparation?<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

    There is an\u00a0ONLINE<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0 marriage preparation course called\u00a0PREPARE<\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>which you will both undertake.\u00a0 The aim of this course is to reveal the strengths and areas of improvement in your relationship; so that you are better prepared for your marriage commitment.<\/p>\n

    What costs are involved?<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

    There is a\u00a0 fee of\u00a0$600.00<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    What documents are required?<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

    You will need full birth certificates for both the bride and groom.\u00a0\u00a0If you\u2019ve been married before,\u00a0then you will also need to provide a divorce, or death, certificate and provide at least one baptism certificate.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>
